Trending Topiks" #unfollowmeif

If you haven't seen some of these through Facebook already, then I want to introduce you to "Trending Topiks." I've been doing this on themashup.net for the past couple of weeks and so I decided that I did want to bring it over to the blog. Basically, I take the popular Trending Topics from Twitter and make posts out of them. These posts typically won't be as long as the rest of the posts I have, but I think it's cool to put a hip hop twist on these topics and it will be a way to get the site updated more often. Please give feedback on these "Trending Topik" posts and let me know what you think because unless I hear you don't like it, I'll keep doing them. I need to know what y'all do and don't like!!! You can find all of the previous ones here, but from now on you will be able to find them here, as well. That being said, below is the first "Trending Topiks" post on this site. Enjoy!

I don't even have that many followers (you can follow me @so_hiphop if you choose), but if you do happen to be one of them, you should #unfollowmeif any of these topics (hip hop or hip hop community related) below pertain to you. #unfollowmeif:

You think that "MTV Hottest List" is legit
This list of the "hottest" has really taken the attention away fro the artistry and made the MUSIC more about external facors (including money and record sales) that have nothing to do with the level of an artist's skill. And honestly, making a list of the hottest wouldn't be as big of a problem if there was some sort of emphasis on actual talent from time to time, but since being "hot" is all media seems to care about, it is extremely detrimental to the culture.

You think that every successful rapper is part of Illuminati
I know the Illuminati is scary, but people are starting to go too far. Success doesn't automatically qualify you as part of the Illuminati. Just because you don't like or disagree with something, that doesn't make it part of Illuminati. Simply throwing people in that category is dangerous. Watch what you say.

You don't see how pathetic it was for Antoine Dodson to perform at the BET Awards
I know the song that somebody created with the auto-tune and everything was funny, but to have him perform on stage at the awards show?!!! That was his natural reaction to his sister nearly being raped!! Am I the only one that sees a problem with that?

If you ever have or are still trying to get someone to teach you how to Dougie
No explanation needed

You wear a "Free (Insert Name Here) t-shirt and the person actually did something wrong
I'm all for loyalty in the hip hop community and supporting our own, but when it's a known fact that somebody actually broke the law, how can we plead for their freedom? If they didn't get a fair trial or there is speculation that they're innocent, okay fine, but we're so quick to want to free somebody when they're actually guilty. It's like Ice Cube said, "Now if I did wrong you can lock me up/Never never never gonna sock me up." Our community has obviously had issues with police, but that doesn't mean EVERYBODY is innocent.

You bought Flockaveli and not Distant Relatives
Do ya thing if you bought Flockaveli. I know there's a lot of people that are really feelin'  Waka Flocka's energy in the music and whatnot (I' not one of them), but if you had the time to purchase the album or any single off of the album, I hope that was matched with an album or the same number of tracks from Distant Relatives. The Distant Relatives album is something that was absolutely needed in hip hop. I'm not hating on the Waka album but there is no possible way that I can say the same thing about it.

You know what, I say to unfollow me, but honestly you don't have to because, hopefully, with posts like this, I can bring some sort of awareness to the hip hop community. So don't unfollow me, just stop and think about some of the things we need to change.

What are some thing (hip hop related) people can "unfollow" you for? Let me hear it! Comment and of course you can e-mail at straightouttahiphop@gmail.com.

Peace.
