Respect Due: Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five

Years later, Flash put together five MCs that would later go on to once again change hip hop forever. The MCs included Cowboy, Kidd Creole, Mr. Ness/Scorpio, Rahiem, and of course Melle Mel and as they say, "the rest is history." We all know the absolute classic song, "The Message." Led by the vocals of Melle Mel, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five went on to prove that hip hop was not only a party genre, but a social and political movement, as well. This song opened the doors for artists such as Public Enemy, N.W.A., and Tupac, and many more. This catapulted the group into not only hip hop, but music history as a whole and in 2007, they became the first group inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I'm sure that much of the music we have now would have eventually be introduced to the world, but without Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, it may have been severely delayed. So to each member we say...Respect Due.
