Greatest Ad-libs
Ok, I know it's been a while. There just aren't enough hours in the day and I can't see to do everything that I want to. I've only been back from Hawaii for a few day and have been trying to catch up on stuff since I've been back. The trip was amazing, though. I am determined to go back again one day. The highlight had to be when we (my family) went snorkeling. We got to see all sorts of fish, swim next to some turtles, view all the coral reefs. It was great! The water there is so clear and the waves can get huge. I gotta go back.
While I was out there, I got some great news that I would be interning at Vibe Magazine this summer! I can't wait to get this internship started! It should be great experience and it's out in NY so just being out there should be real nice.
Anyway, enough about the trip and down to what you guys want to read. So, I was just thinking to myself one day, who has the best ad-libs in hip hop. Of course many people might point out somebody like Young Jeezy and even though his stick with you, I have to go another route. On Westside Connection's Bow Down, I thought Ice Cube had some great one's (along with W.C.), but outside of that I don't know of too many. It hit me though listening to his first and second albums, however, that Eminem just might have the best (at least in my opinion). Em comes not only with his own funny ad-libs, but little sound bites in the background that are hilarious. Listen to The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP to see what I mean. You will especially find this on some of his more comical and light-hearted songs, like "My Name Is", "Criminal", "Brain Damage", etc. Many of them are perfectly timed and have this comical part to them that make them genius.
That's it for today. Who do you think has the best ad-libs in hip hop? Oh, I know Relapse is out tomorrow so I gotta get a review on that and the "other white rapper" lol (jk), Asher Roth. I've already heard some mixed reviews on the Em album, but haven't been able to check it out for myself, yet. Let's hope he did actually relapse, for hip hop's sake. Anybody heard it already? What are your thoughts on it? Comment or hit me at straightouttahiphop@gmail.com.
Peace
