Happy Mother's Day!

To all of the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and even some of those big sisters that act as moms, happy Mother's Day. As I mentioned in the blog I posted as a tribute to my grandmother, mothers and grandmothers have always played a major role in hip hop. They were usually the providers and care takers of many of the artists that put out music and we want to make sure that their work doesn't go unnoticed.

I'm going to keep this pretty brief, but what do you think is the #1 tribute song to mothers in hip hop? Most would probably say, and I would probably have to agree, that it is 2pac's "Dear Mama." A few others that come to the top of my head are Kanye's "Hey Mama" and Goodie Mob's "Guess Who". Regardless of which song is the best dedication, we want all the mothers out there to know that they are loved and appreciated. Even though we may not always mention it, we notice all of the little things that you do and we appreciate it.

So to honor all the mothers and grandmothers, I will leave you with the three songs mentioned above. I want to dedicate this once again to my grandmother, Carrie Mae Hill (R.I.P, you're truly missed.), my mother, and her mother. I love you all.

What do you think is the greatest mother tribute? Shout outs to any mothers, grandmothers, or mother figures out there? Comment or hit me up at straightouttahiphop@gmail.com.

Peace.
